Xa No canal is the first major waterway project in the South, comparable to the establishment of the Saigon and My Tho railways on roads. Xa No canal has long been considered the rice road of the West Hau River region.

The canal is about 40km long, originating from the junction of Vam Xang and Can Tho river (large branch of Hau river), passing through Phong Dien district and running to the junction of Ba Voi river (Hau Giang) before flowing into the Cai Lon river (Kien Giang) flowing into the West Sea. The canal has created a unique landscape for the land of Vi Thanh. The rhythm of commercial life, shops, and wholesale shops along the Xa No River have created a bustling urban area in the South of Hau River.
