On December 20, 1952, the Torpedo Team (belonging to Company 4053, Battalion 410) coordinated with the forces of Can Tho Provincial Military Command to sink the LCT (troop transport ship), killing over 400 French soldiers and officers.

Today, next to the river that marks the glorious victory of the past, the Provincial People's Committee has built a monument to commemorate the soldiers who participated in the battle in the past, along with a house displaying the wreckage of the enemy warship that was sunk by our army. On August 3, 2007, the Ministry of Culture and Information issued a decision to rank the Vam Cai Sinh Victory as a National Historical Relic.
