The festival takes place from April 17 to 21, 2024 at Binh Thuy District Square (Binh Thuy Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City) with more than 200 booths, including: folk cake booths, culinary booths, OCOP booths and regional specialties, attracting more than 100 artisans from provinces and cities across the country to compete and demonstrate making folk cakes.

Highlights include a space to introduce and demonstrate the national intangible cultural heritage of Thuan Hung rice paper making; a free performance and reception of record-breaking Banh Xeo with a diameter of 3m... and many other attractive cultural and artistic activities every night.

Hau Giang is honored to be one of the units that always accompany the cause of preserving and promoting the good traditional values ​​of Southern folk cakes at the annual festivals of Can Tho city. In 2024, the booth promoting and introducing Hau Giang folk cakes will bring visitors many delicious and attractive cakes with traditional folk sounds but mixed with a fresh color of modernity, with profound cultural values, close, rich in emotions...

Accompanying Hau Giang to participate in the Cake Festival in Can Tho city, Artisan Tran Thi Gam shared, “I am very happy to have represented Hau Giang for many years in a row to participate in a series of activities to introduce and promote traditional cakes. Through this, I have the opportunity to introduce to visitors near and far the specialties and my hometown of Hau Giang. This year, I have prepared many types of traditional cakes such as: banh duc tendon, banh bo, banh la mo, banh bot loc, banh khot, banana with coconut milk... and I am very happy because the cakes I made could not be sold in time.”

Another highlight of the 2024 Southern Traditional Cake Festival is the Southern Traditional Cake Competition. The competition not only creates a playground to improve the skills of artisans, but is also an opportunity for artisans to introduce the quintessence of traditional cakes with a variety of cakes from ethnic groups: Kinh, Hoa, Khmer, Cham...

In 2024, the contest has 36 participating units, 57 cakes, gathering 125 artisans (including 57 main artisans) from the following provinces and cities: Hau Giang, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, An Giang, Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City, Thua Thien Hue.
