With the aim of improving the skills of professional chefs and exploiting culinary strengths to create more attractiveness for tourists, on the afternoon of March 15, the Hau Giang Province Chefs Association (under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) held its first Congress for the 2022-2024 term. This is a notable event among chefs and restaurants, not only in Hau Giang province.

This is a notable event among chefs and restaurants, not only in Hau Giang province. 

Hau Giang Province Chefs Association is a professional social organization, established under Decision No. 461/QD-UBND of the Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee. It was established in the context that there are currently hundreds of restaurants, eateries, and food service establishments in the province, but most chefs have not been properly trained, lack opportunities to update and improve their skills, and have no place to gather and protect common interests.

The establishment of the Hau Giang Province Chefs Association aims to meet the needs of exchanging and learning experiences, improving skills for the kitchen team; creating a playground for professional chefs who have been working in restaurants, hotels, tourist business areas, culinary schools, etc.

After a period of campaigning, as of March 9, the Organizing Committee for the establishment of the Hau Giang Province Chefs Association has mobilized nearly 80 members to participate according to the criteria of "Gathering members to strive to promote and develop the art of preparing modern, classy Vietnamese dishes to introduce and preserve national identity".

After an urgent working session, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Hau Giang Province Chefs Association consisting of 11 members, the Presidium and passed the "Resolution of the 1st Hau Giang Province Chefs Congress, term 2022-2024". Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was elected as the President of the Association.

Talking to the reporter of Nhip Song Mien Tay, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly shared: Tourism is identified as one of the four pillars in Resolution No. 04 of the Provincial Party Committee on developing industry, agriculture, urban areas and tourism in Hau Giang for the period of 2021-2025 and the following years. In addition to exploiting the values ​​from available natural tourism resources, Hau Giang has identified cuisine as a factor contributing to diversifying tourism products, creating attractiveness for domestic and foreign tourists.

“Possessing a rich cuisine of the Southwest river region but still retaining its own unique features, Hau Giang has the potential to exploit and develop cuisine into culinary tourism from agricultural products and OCOP products of the province” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, President of the Hau Giang Province Chefs Association said.
