The Interest of "crouching" market is in Vi Thanh

I personally like all kinds of markets, from "luxury markets" like supermarkets, Malls, Stores in Trade Centers, online markets in the 4.0 era... to small markets, outdoor markets, antique and second hand markets, floating markets, on land markets... and the love markets! The market is not only a place to trade but also a place where people can exchange cultures and relieve stress. Whenever I go to a new region, I find a way to visit the market. Good or bad, people can hide or show off on the street and just go to the market, we can see the soul of the marketer in that country! A whole heaven of culture at the market!

Coming to Hau Giang, I did not forget to visit the market. The market has a Vietnamese Western culture, simple but diverse, innocent and kind, located in the heart of Vi Thanh city. The market is given a special name by the local people: The market is called "crouching", because the sellers and buyers crouch in the middle of the sky buying and selling. The "crouching" market is located right at Vi Thanh agricultural market, Hau Giang province, not sure if it has ever been but very crowded, starting from about 6 am to more than 10 am. The most interesting thing is that the agricultural market still has a market house, with wholesale and retail stalls like other markets, but in the middle of the market without a roof, genuine farmers bring "home-made goods" to sell.

It is fabulous! The agricultural products that people bring out are not much because they are all grown in home gardens, raising ponds at home or just caught and picked. The products can be fish that have just been unloaded early in the morning; small shrimp; ripe mango, plum, jackfruit and so on. Then, a few baskets of fresh fish mint, centella and katuk. Urban people keep gawking at weird products: natural eels, minnow, anabas, gourami, snakeheads, catfish, ect. In the floating season, there are also Siamese mud carp, snakes, turtles, rice mice and so on. There are also various countryside vegetables such as: polypody sprout, lotus root, water lily root, mixed vegetables, water primrose, water chives, cattail, passiflora foetida and so on. The local market sells many edible flowers of water lily, lotus, sesban, water hyacinth and pumpkin. Anything is ready for a yummy hot pot!

The seller and the buyer seem to have known each other for a long time, stopping in, buying and talking, "advising" each other on what should be cooked for lunch, what is delicious and new, and ready to introduce customers to the booth next to them if they do not have or do not meet the needs of customers. The liberal personality of the South is here, very sincere and charming!

I went to the market once in the morning before 6:00, the market was crowded. The sooner people go to the market, the more delicious the agricultural products will be. Going to the market at this time is cool and has the opportunity to catch the moment of sunrise and enjoy the Mekong life. However, going to the market in the late morning when it is almost finished has its own features. The market at that time is still interesting, hustling and bustling but it is not too busy, rushed and not as sad as when the market ends.

The country market, of course, is cheaper than buying on the stalls. The buyers do not need to bargain and the sellers do not need to burn paper in front of their stalls. And it's so much fun to get promotions with fabulous smiles!

Don’t wait, let's come to Hau Giang to find the charm of the countryside right away!
