Hau Giang issues project to develop community tourism

On November 9, 2023, Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1939/QD-UBND approving the Project on community tourism development in Hau Giang province until 2025, with a vision to 2030.

Community tourism development project (DLCĐ) with the goal of Hau Giang becoming a new destination for community tourism in the Mekong Delta region. When talking about community tourism in Hau Giang, tourists will remember the generous, sincere, and hospitable communities; the experiences imbued with Southern culture; the rich cuisine; the connection and harmony with nature, rivers; and agricultural activities and products.

According to the orientation, the Hau Giang Community Tourism Development Project will develop appropriate tourism product groups associated with the community such as: Community tourism products associated with historical - cultural relics and outstanding landscapes; Community tourism products associated with agricultural ecology, high-tech agriculture, new rural areas, traditional craft villages; Community tourism products associated with typical cuisine; Community tourism products associated with spiritual tourism. In addition, the Project also divides 04 tourism clusters according to favorable factors in terms of transportation, geographical location and similarity in tourism resources and products: Vi Thanh city and Vi Thuy district tourism cluster; Long My town and Long My district tourism cluster; Phung Hiep district and Nga Bay city tourism cluster; Chau Thanh district and Chau Thanh A district tourism cluster.

To develop community tourism in Hau Giang by the people and serve the interests of local people. Overcome the disadvantages: spontaneity, unprofessional service, poor management, unattractive products, lack of business skills, marketing, management and create effective connections between the government, people and businesses. From there, the Project has proposed a number of implementation solutions, specifically as follows: Solutions on raising social awareness; Policy solutions to encourage and support community tourism business; Solutions on improving accessibility to community tourism destinations; Solutions on improving the competitiveness of community tourism destinations; Solutions on training, improving the quality of community tourism human resources and community tourism start-up orientation; Solutions on building and connecting tourist routes with community tourism models; Solutions on enhancing the capacity to respond to climate change; landscape, environmental protection; security and order management; Solutions on building a management system, community tourism management tools of the province; Solutions for building brand identity, software for guiding and promoting community-based tourism; Solutions for building community-based tourism product sets and plans for building community-based tourism models in Hau Giang province.

The total capital requirement to implement the Project is 32,610 billion VND. Of which: Budget capital for the period 2023 - 2025: 5,885 billion VND; Mobilized capital for the period 2023 - 2025: 2,275 billion VND; Budget capital for the period 2026 - 2030: 14,575 billion VND; Mobilized capital for the period 2026 - 2030: 9,875 billion VND.

In organizing the implementation of the Project, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Standing Committee of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee) as the focal agency, presiding over and coordinating with provincial departments, branches, sectors, mass organizations, People's Committees of districts, towns, cities and related units in implementing the Project.
