The plan aims to exploit waterway tourism on Xa No canal by 2024, invest in building 01 wharf and develop 02 ships to serve tourists; strive for the period 2025 - 2030: build 02 wharfs, connect with localities such as: Can Tho, Kien Giang, An Giang, Soc Trang, Ca Mau.

The key task of developing waterway tourism in Hau Giang province is to develop tourism products including 3 main routes: Xa No canal tourism route (inner waterway tourism route of Vi Thanh city, combined with visiting nearby tourist attractions along Xa No canal); Cai Con river route connected to Nga Bay floating market (visiting Nga Bay floating market and tourist attractions on the route such as: fruit gardens, Mien Vuon homestay, relics of the Southern Joint Ceasefire Committee, traditional craft villages, Mua Xuan eco-tourism area...); route connected to the river in the garden, preserving the typical river landscape along the Hau River (with Hau Giang Port located in the Hau River Industrial Park, planned on the left bank of Dinh An - Can Tho channel, from Cai Cui canal to Cai Con canal, taking advantage of the waterway along the Hau River and small branches such as Mai Dam and Nga Sau rivers to develop waterway tourism)...

In addition, Hau Giang province also focuses on investing in and building infrastructure and technical facilities to serve waterways, investing in and upgrading inland waterway wharves in Vi Thanh city, Nga Bay city, Chau Thanh A district. Building waiting houses at the wharves, renovating urban areas along canals and rivers, decorating and creating landscapes along both banks of waterway tourism routes; Building tourism service products such as investing in upgrading tourist areas and spots to combine exploitation and inclusion in waterway tours, developing amateur music clubs, embellishing and promoting historical and cultural relics, preserving and developing traditional craft villages, handicrafts, OCOP products, developing fleets of ships and boats to serve the needs of sightseeing on the river.

In addition, according to the Plan, the tasks and solutions for implementation need to be strengthened to promote new destinations and tourism products, promote and introduce waterway tourism on digital technology platforms, coordinate with travel agencies to connect tours and waterway tourism routes; Promote the training of human resources for waterway tourism, foster expertise and professionalism for service staff on ships and boats, educate and foster knowledge about waterway tourism for the community of residents participating in tourism...

The estimated budget to implement the plan is 58,572 billion VND, from the State budget; socialized sources and other legal funding sources.
