Hau Giang sets 2 Vietnamese records for dishes made from That Lat fish and pineapple

The Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings) has just officially awarded a record certificate to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hau Giang Province to recognize the record for the event of performing and preparing the most dishes from That Lat and Pineapple fish in Vietnam.

Specifically, after the process of monitoring and carrying out the counting and appraisal, the representative of the Supervisory Board of the Vietnam Record Organization - VietKings recorded the total number of dishes made from Pangasius at the event as 104 dishes - reaching the registered number of 100 dishes; the total number of dishes made from Pineapple was 104 dishes - reaching the registered number of 100 dishes - the number of dishes meeting the target has officially helped the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hau Giang Province to meet the conditions to establish 02 Vietnamese records as previously registered with the content: Event of processing and performing the most dishes from Pangasius in Vietnam and Event of processing and performing the most dishes from Pineapple in Vietnam.

In response to and promotion of this series of events, Hau Giang Province has established a nomination dossier to send to the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) to establish a Vietnam Record for the Event of processing and performing the most dishes from Pangasius fish in Vietnam and the Event of processing and performing the most dishes from Pineapple in Vietnam. The local leadership wishes to introduce to domestic and foreign tourists the special advantages as well as the unique features in the culinary culture of the Mekong Delta region.

Participating in the culinary contest and establishing dishes from Cau Duc pineapple and That Lat fish are 52 teams, coming from communes, wards, towns, districts, towns, cities and agencies, departments, branches of Hau Giang province and culinary businesses in the province. Each team draws lots to prepare a party of 4 dishes (4-dish combo) from pineapple and That Lat fish - 2 specialties of Hau Giang province. Thereby, 208 dishes were prepared and displayed to serve tourists, including more than 100 dishes from Pineapple and more than 100 dishes from Thac Lat fish.

This is an opportunity for chefs and traditional bakers in the province to show off their skills, presenting unique and special dishes, imbued with the distinct characteristics of Vietnamese cuisine in general and Hau Giang in particular.

The event not only contributes to introducing the diversity of Hau Giang's culinary culture in particular but also contributes to honoring Vietnamese cuisine in general, bringing unique but equally familiar dishes to promote the country's cuisine to domestic and international friends. Even more special, when the event received recognition from the National Record Organization, it enhanced the prestige and position of Hau Giang cuisine in many aspects, gradually linking the parallel development between cuisine and tourism, so that cuisine truly becomes a unique feature with its own characteristics and attracts tourists from near and far.

In Hau Giang, the most famous pineapple is Cau Duc pineapple, with a characteristic sweet taste and juicy, fragrant, grown mostly in Hoa Tien commune, Vi Thanh city. Pineapple is identified as one of the four main crops of Hau Giang province. Preliminary statistics in 2021, in Vi Thanh city, the area planted with Cau Duc pineapple was more than 2,200 hectares, many areas were invested according to VietGAP standards. And That Lat fish is raised in many places in the province, of which the most is in Phung Hiep district, the whole province in 2021 had about 100 hectares of That Lat fish farming and mainly That Lat fish. Business establishments, processing establishments, restaurants in the province have produced a variety of products from this fish species, typically boneless That Lat fish, That Lat fish cakes, That Lat fish balls, That Lat fish salted with lemongrass, That Lat fish shrimp crackers.
